#ShopSmallEveryDay

Small business Saturday is November 25th this year. As a response to Black Friday and national box stores and online bohemoths like Amazon and Walmart, community members are asked to shop small businesses in their local neighborhoods.

Because small businesses need our support year-round, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in using the hashtag #ShopSmallEveryDay to promote shopping small, investing in local communities, and celebrating the important role of small businesses play in our economy.

Although local businesses do have some competition amongst each other, they loose much more business to the big boxes, huge online conglomerates, franchise stores and direct to consumer platforms. Please consider supporting several independent stores this holiday, even if it costs a few dollars more. The local taxes paid in personal property, sales and use and other taxes make a big difference for our communities. Make a bigger impact by not only saving Saturday as the small business Saturday. Let's do it on Black Friday too.  If you weren't aware, Black Friday "term" was invented by small businesses who typically were in the "red" meaning carrying losses until they went into the black and finally profitable.

By supporting small business you are also supporting the employees who count on these businesses to succeed for their livelihood. Almost all of us have worked for a small business at least once in their lives. In fact it is where many of us got our first jobs and if we have children, they did too.

This week the QG is trying to make it fun and easy to look your best by opening Monday the 20th at not only our bar and restaurant, Clock Restoration, but also our barbershop, spa, cigar humidor, menswear and tailor. We will be closed on Thanksgiving but reopen for Black Friday and "Shop Small" Saturday. If you are traveling this holiday, the QG created essential packing list as a guide, as well as, creating a holiday gift guide and a look book of our longest partners, Barbour for online shopping

Let's all make a difference in our local communities this year!
