Featured Cocktail: The Old Master with Bulleit Rye

Today we will be featuring our cocktail "The Old Master."  This is a CLOCK original.  The drink is loosely based on a civil war era cocktail called a Sangaree.  Sangarees are cocktails that use port or Madeira as the main alcohol with a touch of citrus.  We add rye whiskey to the drink to give it some punch.  The drink contains Madeira, Bulleit Rye, lemon juice, simple syrup and a touch of salt.

The Old Master is named after Baltimore's own Joe Gans. Mr. Gans was the first African American champion of any sport.  He was a lightweight boxer and is considered to be one of the pound for pound greatest fighters of all time.  He fought from 1890 to 1910.  Joe brought scientific boxing to the forefront, earning the nickname "The Old Master."  Gans famously trained Jack Johnson.  He also fought and won the longest fight in modern boxing history in the 42nd round.  CLOCK is honored to name a cocktail after the great Joe Gans.

Join us at 5:30 in Downtown Baltimore for the My Father Cigar tasting where we will be pairing this cocktail with the Vegas Cubana.  The Old Master is complimentary with a purchase of tickets (free for Members).
